Bettering or Changing Yourself?

You're probably thinking "hmm don't these basically mean the same thing?" Yes, in some ways they can be exactly the same except when it comes to YOU. Changing yourself usually means we are not changing for ourselves but changing to please other people. Changing means we are becoming something we are not, as we go through life and meet new people or learn different things - we tend to adapt to these new things. But Bettering yourself means you are still the same person you were just slightly improved. I am so guilty of sitting in front of the mirror and wanting to change my body to be skinnier right then and there, or I wish I knew how to do makeup or play guitar and I want it right away. That's not how it works. I have learned that I need to slowly better myself by eating healthier, taking care of my skin, getting exercise, practicing positivity, and loving myself first. If you don't love yourself before you start to better yourself you won't see any progress. Being mentally healthy is the only way you can become physically healthy - that is something I will stand by forever. I try to go to the gym everyday because it always lifts my spirits - when I say mentally healthy I don't mean just having a bad day, we are all allowed that. I mean you are happy with your day to day life, you have the strength to get out of bed, get all your shit done for the day because if you want to workout or start to better yourself you're whole heart won't be there. It's okay to take time off from your daily routine if you aren't feeling your best , whether it's skipping the gym or going to bed without washing your face. We all have those days. Change is a strong word because when we think of change we think of drastic changes, like losing a loved one, moving from your childhood home and that change happens in life it is the inevitable. But when it comes to changing yourself - DON'T - God made you in his image and you are a unique one of a kind human being. There is always room to better the self that you currently are - but don't changes God's beautiful creation. Everyday I am trying to slowly better myself - I know I will never be perfect but I am trying to better myself in relationships, mental mindset, and in my faith. So stop comparing and start bettering but don't change.

Galatians 1:10

"Am I now trying to win the approval of human beings, or of God? Or am I trying to please people? If I were still trying to please people, I would not be a servant of God."

XOXO,

Darbs
